The right to a healthy and sustainable diet is a fundamental human right. In recent years, DSI has been actively involved in the distribution of food to various segments of society. DSI provided food rations in various districts throughout few years. There were many essential items included in these rations, including fine Atta, cooking oil, rice, sugar, daal moong, Basin Floor, Red Chili Powder, and iodized salt. The assistance was provided to communities lacking support mechanisms such as the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and other social safety nets. In addition, the DSI team conducted kitchen gardening training sessions and distributed seeds to rural communities in an effort to encourage the establishment of kitchen gardens. To motivate urban communities, DSI provided flowerpots for cultivating mint, green chilies, coriander, and other vegetables. Additionally, the team raised awareness about climate-smart agriculture practices. In order to ensure households, have reliable access to protein, DSI provided specially bred chickens known for their consistent egg-laying capabilities. In addition to providing sustenance for families, these chickens provide them with the opportunity to sell surplus eggs periodically, thus supplementing their incomes. Children who were undernourished were referred to the government led facilities.
